I'm getting married.
How did that happen, you might ask?
I met a grumpy boy with an injured leg, in a salt farm, on an island, in France.
Even as I tried my best to lighten the mood, he barely spoke and just looked away when I did. I thought, is it possible that my charming self is not helping, but actually, being annoying?
So I did my thing, I went along and just sat down on a random wooden crate that was very far from stable.
Like 15 minutes later he just appeared and sat on the opposite side, giving me a small sentence about how the box might break under our weight.
Maybe your weight, sir? I was already here!
I actually got a good look this time and I was intrigued. Was he always this moody? Did he even know who I was?
He certainly did not, had not heard my name before that day, even if we had been working in the same company for 6 months.
However, I must have broken down some walls, because he was now asking me questions... He was actually interested!
Two days later we were back at home - Zagreb vs Paris - and (now I know) a friend and coworker puppeteered her way into him and I having a project together.
Frauds and GuestPoints were sorted and somehow small details about his life were being stored in my mind. Uh, let's check his instagram!
Spoiler: mission failed. No actual socials to check, nothing to find.
Me, as the brazen woman I am, just asked him, "Hey, couldn't find you on instagram". His answer: "I only use Facebook". 28, he was 28. Who even uses Facebook messenger anymore?
Either way, I added him (I keep mine because I have extended family on that account) and we got to talking. Apparently, and according to him, this was when he realized I was flirting with him. Had I not been obvious before this? Seriously?
If I recall correctly, the phrase that got everything in motion was: "do you consider yourself spontaneous?".
You don't really need me to answer that, but 5 days later I was landing in Paris and meeting with a potential serial killer husband.
Oh, he was cute, and nervous, and even if he was in the middle of a scammer attack at work, he had ordered dinner and planned activities for the weekend.
Shortly after he visited in Zagreb and virtually spent the whole summer here with me. During which he had said things like "I don't want to rush you, but if you wanted to be my girlfriend I wouldn't say no". Oh, wouldn't you, mi amor?
I guess the rest is history, as here we are right now, planning not only a wedding but a life together.
All I can say now is, thank you for appearing in my life, and "I do".
